Steven Seagal goes to Belarus and learns about carrots and watermelons from the local dictator. (Video!)
The American actor Steven Seagal took a break from spending time with the Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov to visit the Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko, who's served as president of the ex-Soviet republic for the past 22 years. Honored guest that he was, Seagal received a whole array of gifts from the Belarusian head of state, including a book and a dagger, before Lukashenko brought Seagal to his farm and treated him to fresh carrots and watermelon.
Seagal later told Lukashenko that he has Belarusian roots. The actor has said previously that his ancestors came from Russia and Ukraine, though he's never before mentioned Belarus.
“By his own admission, Steven Seagal has long dreamed of becoming acquainted with Alexander Lukashenko. Planning a trip to Minsk, he asked persistently about scheduling a meeting. Our guest also has a special relationship to Belarus; as it was explained today, Steven Seagal is our countryman. He has roots in Belarus,” said Lukashenko's press secretary.
