Russia's postal service fired the postman who folded a vinyl record in half to make it fit in a mailbox

The Russian postal service has fired the postman responsible for folding in half a package containing a vinyl record, in order to make it fit into the recipient's mailbox. (The record did not survive the process.) The postal service had already apologized to the man who ordered the record, and refunded him the money he lost on the damaged purchase.

On June 6, Pavel Baleshenko wrote on Facebook to complain that he'd discovered a parcel folded in half in his mailbox on June 3. The package contained a ruined copy of “2 the Sky” by DJ Metatron, which he ordered on the website Discogs. Within three hours of Baleshenko's Facebook post, the Russian postal service responded.
