Russia struck Kyiv overnight, killing 12. Here’s what the Ukrainian capital looks like in the aftermath of the attack.

Overnight on August 20, Russian forces attacked Ukraine using cruise and ballistic missiles and attack drones. Kyiv was the main target of the attack. According to authorities, 12 people were killed in the city, more than 30 were injured, and residential buildings, warehouses, and critical infrastructure facilities were damaged. Russia’s Defense Ministry claims that the attack hit missile and drone production plants and military warehouses. Kyiv declared August 21 a day of mourning for those killed.
