Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital with ballistic missiles in the early hours of April 6, killing at least one person and injuring three others, authorities in Kyiv reported. Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said the attack affected three different neighborhoods: the Darnytskyi, Obolonskyi, and Solomyanskyi districts. According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the body of one victim was found on the street near the “epicenter of the explosion” in the Darnytskyi district. Of the three people injured, two were hospitalized, the State Emergency Services said. Writing on Telegram, President Volodymyr Zelensky called Sunday’s attacks “Putin’s response to all international diplomatic efforts,” and urged allies not to ease pressure on Moscow amid the Trump administration’s push to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. “The pressure on Russia still isn’t enough, and the daily Russian strikes on Ukraine prove it,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a Telegram post on Sunday. The statement came after a barrage of Russian ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv early on April 6, which killed at least one person and injured three others, local authorities reported.

According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, the capital’s emergency workers extinguished a fire at a non-residential building in the Darnytskyi district. Another building in the area was also destroyed, while three cars parked nearby caught fire.

In the Obolonskyi district, emergency services put out a fire at a furniture store and warehouse building. The top three floors of an office building, which housed the television channel Freedom’s newsroom, were destroyed in the neighborhood, as well.

Emergency workers also extinguished a fire at a warehouse in the Solomyanskyi district.

“The number of aerial attacks is increasing,” Zelensky said, pointing to Russian strikes on both Kyiv and other parts of the country on Sunday. “This is how Russia shows its true intentions — to continue its terror as long as the world allows it.”

“There can be no easing of pressure,” he concluded. “It’s worth directing all efforts to guarantee security and bring peace closer.”
