Worldwide demonstrations for Alexey Navalny A list

On Friday February 16, local administration of Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) reported that opposition politician Alexey Navalny had died. According to the FSIN’s statement, Navalny “felt unwell after a walk and almost immediately lost consciousness.” His death has not been officially confirmed, but soon after the reports of the politician’s death, memorial rallies began being announced in cities across the world. The “Ark” project has collected a list of demonstrations. Meduza is publishing the list in English. All times are local.

Rallies in memory of Navalny are also taking place across Russia. People are bringing flowers to monuments to the victims of political repression. A resident of Murmansk, who went out into the street with a placard saying “Alexei Navalny was killed. His blood is on your hands, Vova,” has been arrested.

Meduza urges those who are going to honor the memory of Alexey Navalny in public places in Russia to please be careful due to the possibility of arrest and criminal prosecution.
