Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies search National Bank governor’s premises
Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) are searching the premises of Andriy Pyshnyi, head of the National Bank of Ukraine, lawmaker Oleksiy Honcharenko and sources who spoke to the Ukrainian news outlet Ukrainska Pravda reported.
They did not provide further details.
Pyshnyi has led the National Bank of Ukraine since October 2022.
Ukraine has faced a wave of corruption scandals since late last year. In November 2025, NABU announced that it had uncovered large-scale embezzlement at Energoatom, the company that manages all of the nuclear power plants in the country. NABU named Timur Mindich, a former business partner and friend of Volodymyr Zelensky, as the scheme’s leader and identified senior officials as possible beneficiaries.
NABU and SAPO also accused Andriy Yermak, Ukraine’s former presidential chief of staff, of participating in an organized group that laundered 460 million hryvnias (about $10 million) through the construction of upscale housing outside Kyiv.
In August 2026, NABU and SAPO announced a special operation called “Forrest Gump” aimed at curbing corruption among senior officials. Iryna Mudra, Ukraine’s former deputy presidential chief of staff, and other suspects are accused of using 150 million hryvnias in laundered funds, channeled through a state bank, to post bail for former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.
