Bail posted for Andriy Yermak, former Ukrainian presidential chief of staff. He has been released from pretrial detention.
Update: Andriy Yermak has been released from pretrial detention.
Ukraine’s High Anti-Corruption Court has approved a 140 million hryvnia bail for Andriy Yermak, the former chief of staff to the Ukrainian president, the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN reported.
Yermak was placed in pretrial detention on Thursday, May 14, after the court set his bail at 140 million hryvnias. He said he did not have the money but that his defense attorneys would try to raise it.
The full amount had not been raised by Friday evening, May 15. Yermak spent the weekend in pretrial detention — Ukraine’s High Anti-Corruption Court, which had to approve his release on bail, does not operate on Saturdays or Sundays.
Andriy Yermak is a suspect in a case involving the laundering of 460 million hryvnias ($10 million) in connection with the construction of the elite ‘Dynastiya’ complex outside Kyiv. He has not admitted guilt.
