Moscow court sentences former advisor to Russian Embassy in France to 18 years for treason

The Moscow City Court sentenced Igor Kondratsky, a former advisor to the Russian Embassy in France, to 18 years in a maximum security penal colony, reports the Moscow’s courts of general jurisdiction’s press service.

The former diplomat was found guilty of state treason. Kondratsky was also stripped of his rank as colonel of the reserve.

According to the investigation, Kondratsky passed information that contained state secrets to a representative of a foreign government, reports one of Russian state news agency Interfax’s sources.

Kondratsky’s arrest was first reported in August 2022. According to Interfax, the diplomat was arrested two months earlier.

The Moscow Times reported that Kondratsky was originally from Kyiv. He worked for Russia’s Foreign Ministry between 1992 and 2010.
