Update: Alexey Navalny’s mother has reportedly visited the prison where her son died. Photos published by Reuters show Lyudmila Navalnaya covering her face with her hands as she leaves the facility.
Alexey Navalny’s mother, Lyudmila Navalnaya, has flown to Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and headed towards the village of Kharp, where the penal colony where her son died is located, according to journalist Yelena Rykovtseva.
The Associated Press published a photo of a vehicle in which Navalnaya was reportedly seen in Kharp on February 17.
Rykovtseva noted that Navalnaya visited her son at his prison on February 12. On February 16, Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service reported that Navalny had died.
