Residents of Belgorod reported hearing explosions in the city, and photos showing a damaged apartment building and car appeared on local social media pages on August 13.
The cause of the explosion is unclear. Witnesses told a local Telegram channel that they saw a drone in flight and then heard the explosion.
Photos taken by witnesses show damage to the windows of apartments on three separate floors of the building, reports Telegram channel 112. Another channel, called Ostorozhno, Novosti, writes that several cars were damaged. According to preliminary reports from local media, there were no casualties.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed that a multi-story apartment building was damaged, likely in a drone strike. Russia’s Defense Ministry has not commented on the situation.
The Russian authorities reported earlier that the country’s air defenses shot down three drones over the Belgorod region on August 13. No victims or damages were reported.
