Ivan and Sergey Berezutsky, the two celebrity-chef brothers behind Moscow’s Twins Garden restaurant, are leaving the establishment. An Instagram announcement posted by Ivan Berezutsky on Tuesday marked his last day at the restaurant that made him an international celebrity.

When the very first Russian restaurants were rated by the Michelin Guide in 2021, Twins Garden was one of just two places to receive two Michelin stars. (The other was the Moscow-based Artest.) Also in 2021, Twins Garden was featured among The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, according to the UK-based Restaurant Magazine.

The Berezutsky twins owned Twins Garden until 2019, when it was bought by the billionaire and Putin’s inner circle member Alexey Repik.

In January 2023, The Insider, an independent Russian outlet, reported that one of Repik’s companies was illegally importing rare wines from Europe, in spite of the sanctions. This finding was linked to Repik’s restaurant business.

In March 2022, the Michelin Guide suspended all restaurant recommendations in Russia, in response to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
