The FSB press service has announced the arrest of a Ukrainian national suspected of sabotage on the Moscow railway.

The press release says that the suspect was “sent from Latvia to Russia” “in the guise of a refugee,” in order to obtain a Russian citizenship and “engage in terrorist activities.”

The FSB claims that Polish and Latvian state security services were involved in recruiting and training the alleged terrorist. According to the press release, he followed instructions from the Security Service of Ukraine when setting on fire two railroad signal cabinets. The FSB claims that the detainee’s confiscated phone contained photos and videos of his disruptive work, as well as messages exchanged with Ukraine Security Service.

According to the FSB, the suspect confessed that he cooperated with Ukrainian operatives because they had threatened violence against his daughter, who lives in Vilnius, Lithuania.
