On December 14, at his 13th annual marathon press conference, President Vladimir Putin was asked why he has no true competitors for the presidency. He spent several minutes summarizing the achievements of his 17 years in power, and concluded with a dig at the opposition, saying (a day after presidential hopeful Alexey Navalny published his <a href="https://meduza.io/en/short/2017/12/13/a-quick-summary-of-alexey-navalny-s-presidential-campaign" target="_blank">campaign platform</a>) that the opposition has nothing to offer the country.
