The Beet: A new email dispatch from Meduza
Welcome to The Beet, Meduza’s special newsletter focused on Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Every week, we deliver one feature story you won’t find anywhere else. Our job is to cover society, politics, and culture in these often-underreported regions, without centering Moscow, the “West,” or the latest news.
Featuring original reporting and deep analysis, this email dispatch is the perfect supplement to Meduza’s day-to-day coverage. We strive to dig deeper, amplify local perspectives, and tell interesting stories that might otherwise be overlooked.
Subscribe to The Beet and get the Meduza you’ve been missing, direct to your inbox.

I’m not getting Meduza’s newsletter in my inbox. What’s wrong?
Sometimes readers suddenly and mysteriously stop receiving Meduza’s newsletter. Here are the most common reasons why this can happen.
1. Your inbox is full.
When your mailbox runs out of space, new emails stop arriving. Try deleting unnecessary emails, like spam and notifications from those pesky social networks.
2. Your email service thinks messages from Meduza are nasty spam.
To make sure this doesn’t happen and to receive every glorious email, be our buddy and add our address [email protected] to your list of contacts.
You can also create rules to filter Meduza’s emails, so they’ll always land in specific folders. Here are instructions on “filtering” with major email services: Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, iCloud, and Yahoo Mail.
3. You use a corporate email account with an autoresponder.
Mailing services sometimes mistake an autoresponder message for a mailbox’s refusal to accept an email. If possible, turn off that beloved responder. Or re-subscribe from your personal email. To do this, just email us at [email protected], and we'll get it done.
4. You accidentally unsubscribed. Oops!
If you’ve noticed that our emails aren’t coming through anymore, and none of the reasons above fit, just write to us! You probably unsubscribed by mistake. Briefly tell us in your email about the problem, and we will take care of it. Email [email protected] for problems with the daily newsletter and [email protected] for problems with The Beet.
