Biden administration to announce ‘substantial’ military aid package for Ukraine on Thursday — AP
The White House plans to announce a new military aid package for Ukraine on January 9, according to the Associated Press, citing two senior defense officials.
The official announcement is expected during U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s visit to Germany, the AP reported.
This will mark the final aid package from President Biden’s outgoing administration. While the AP’s sources described it as “substantial,” they noted it is unlikely to include the entire $4 billion approved by Congress for Ukraine.
In recent weeks, the Biden administration has accelerated the delivery of military aid to Kyiv. In late December, it unveiled a $2.5 billion package, the largest since January 2023.
