Russian city quietly replaces blue and yellow ornaments on central public Christmas tree

Source: NewsNN.ru

The blue and yellow ornaments on a Christmas tree recently installed on Nizhny Novgorod’s central Gorky Square have been replaced by yellow and red ones, according to the local news site NewsNN.ru.

“Of course, everyone understands why the previous colors bothered part of the population,” the outlet wrote on Telegram. “Once, this combination was common; now, it carries context.” Blue and yellow are the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

The tree, which stands at over 65 feet high, was put up last week.
