A video purportedly showing Russian military personnel killing seven Ukrainian prisoners of war has surfaced on Telegram, prompting the regional prosecutor’s office to open an investigation under an article on violation of the laws and customs of war, according to the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office.
The footage, taken from a drone, shows several individuals, presumably Ukrainian soldiers, being captured and then killed. The Ukrainian OSINT project DeepState, which was among the first to publish the video, wrote that the soldiers seemed to be from Ukraine’s 92nd Assault Brigade.
Ukrainian prosecutors said the video first appeared on February 24, the second anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion. According to the department, Russian soldiers killed unarmed Ukrainian prisoners after storming Ukrainian Armed Forces positions between the villages of Ivanivske and Khromove near Bakhmut.
