Vladimir Putin has announced that he will run for a fifth presidential term. The Russian President made the announcement during an event honoring Heroes of the Fatherland Day.
According to an RIA Novosti correspondent, Putin made the statement to someone involved in the “Special Military Operation,” the speaker of the parliament of the self-proclaimed “DNR” Artem Zhoga.
“We’re very happy that the president heard our request for the nomination, all of Russia supports him,” Zhoga told reporters. He explained that “at the front, everyone was worried and wondering whether Putin would run,” so he decided to ask the president about it when he was in the Kremlin.
The next presidential election is scheduled for March 17, 2024. Today, the Central Election Committee of the Russian Federation adopted a resolution to hold presidential elections on March 15-17, 2024.
