Police raid warehouse of Russia’s largest online retailer, issue military summonses to immigrant workers

On the morning of November 24, police raided a warehouse in the Moscow region that belongs to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer.

Police officers checked passports and military service cards from warehouse employees. Telegram channel Baza reports that some employees were issued military summonses after the check.

Because of the raid, Wildberries representatives have told RBC that, “there may be disruptions in the shipment and unloading of goods.” The company emphasized that Wildberries management was assisting the police and doing everything necessary for the warehouse to resume normal operations.

According to Mash, police were in the vicinity of the sorting center the day before. As a result of the raid, on 16 people were issued citations for violating laws on staying in the country, migration rules, and illegal work. Three of them will be expelled from the country.

In the last few months, there have been repeated reports of raids on foreigners who have obtained Russian citizenship, during which they are served summonses to the military recruitment center.
