Roughly 150 miles south of Moscow, in a small town not far from Tula, educators recently made a house call to ensure that a student home from classes for health reasons didn’t miss out on the new “Lessons in Courage” curriculum. As reported on Telegram, the home lesson focused on familiarizing the boy with several pieces of military equipment and teaching him how to apply battlefield first aid.
According to journalists at the newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets, these lessons in “patriotic education and developing respect for the feats of heroes” are not uncommon at schools throughout the Tula region. In March 2023, for example, police officers conducted “Lessons in Courage” for children at an orphanage in the town of Pervomaysky.
