Russian federal agents say one of their vehicles came under fire near the Ukrainian border, reportedly killing one FSB officer
A Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) border agency vehicle came under fire in the Bryansk region on Thursday, multiple Russian Telegram channels reported.
According to the channel Baza, a UAZ Patriot containing an FSB intelligence officer was attacked at about 4:00 p.m. local time on the outskirts of the village of Ulitsa. Unknown assailants reportedly opened fire on the vehicle with machine guns before fleeing the area.
FSB border service agent Lieutenant Colonel Sergey Sh. sustained fatal injuries in the attack, Baza reported. The pro-war channel WarGonzo wrote that the officer’s name was Sergey Shaty.
On Friday, the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC), an armed formation fighting on the side of Ukraine, wrote on Telegram that an “RVC sabotage and reconnaissance group” had “successfully ambushed an enemy vehicle in the Bryansk region.”
The Russian media has not commented on the incident.
