WSJ: Ukraine struck Russian forces with U.S.-provided long-range ATACMS missiles for the first time
Ukraine’s military fired long-range ATACMS missiles at Russian positions on Tuesday, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has reported, citing its own sources. According to the newspaper, the U.S. recently sent Ukraine a small shipment of the weapons in secret.
The missiles provided reportedly have a range of about 100 miles (160 kilometers).
The WSJ did not specify what targets the missiles were used to hit, though it does note that the Ukrainian military announced on Tuesday that it struck airfields in Russian-occupied Luhansk and Berdyansk. Russian pro-war Telegram channels wrote that Ukraine may have used ATACMS missiles to strike the Berdyansk airfield.
Additionally, Politico reported that Ukraine received and used ATACMS missiles in Ukraine, citing two anonymous sources.
The U.S. has not officially reported supplying ATACMS missiles to Ukraine.
