Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters hit in missile strike
Mikhail Razvozhayev, head of annexed Sevastopol, a city on the Crimean Peninsula, said that the Ukrainian army had launched a missile strike on the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters.
"Shrapnel fell near the Lunacharsky Theater. If you find anything like this, please call 112 [emergency services] and do not approach. All operational services are headed to this location. We are still clarifying information about victims," said Razvozhayev. He urged Sevastopol residents to remain calm and to not publish photos and videos from the scene.
Razvozhayev also stated that another attack is possible, adding: “Please do not travel to the city center. Do not go outside.”
Debris from the missile strike is scattered across hundreds of meters, and a large number of ambulances are on their way to the site of the emergency, TASS reports. The Telegram channel Crimean Wind wrote that more than ten ambulances have arrived at the fleet headquarters.
Judging by photos allegedly taken at the site of the strike, the roof and at least one upper floor of the Black Sea Fleet headquarters building were destroyed.
Prior to Razvozhayev's statement, Sevastopol residents reported hearing the sounds of air defense systems, according to the “Ostorozhno, novosti” (“Beware the News”) Telegram channel.
