Chechen opposition blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov reappears after going missing in early December

Chechen opposition blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov, who was reported missing in early December, contacted the Sweden-based Chechen human rights organization Vayfond on Monday, Novaya Gazeta Europe reported, citing a representative from the group.

According to Vayfond, Abdurakhmanov, whose disappearance was followed by media reports of his death, called the organization to “clarify some legal issues” and gave his permission to announce that he’s alive. A Vayfond employee said the organization still doesn’t know where the blogger is located.

On Tuesday, Abdurakhmanov posted his first YouTube video in almost three months. In it, he confirmed that he’s alive and healthy, but didn’t provide further details about his situation.
