Ukraine opens criminal case against Wagner Group founder Evgeny Prigozhin
The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office has filed criminal charges against Evgeny Prigozhin, the founder of Russia’s Wagner mercenary group, according to the agency’s press service. Prigozhin stands accused of encroaching on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and waging an aggressive war.
Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin said in a statement that Prigozhin is “directly responsible for thousands of war crimes,” noting that he now openly admits his role in the war.
“It’s time to end the bloody tour of Russians who hide under the name of the famous composer,” said Kostin. “The gavel of justice is always stronger than the sledgehammer of anarchy.”
