Former Meduza technical director Boris Goryachev faces misdemeanor charges for 'discrediting' Russian army

Russian authorities have opened an misdemeanor case against former Meduza technical director Boris Goryachev for “discrediting” the Russian army, he reported on Facebook.

“I hope that everybody who thinks what’s happening is more complicated than it seems realizes sooner rather than later that they’re mistaken. Everything is fairly unambiguous — you’re just too cowardly to admit it, because you’ll feel a sense of responsibility immediately after,” he wrote.

In a comment under his post, Goryachev added that he learned about the case from a notification on Gosuslugi, Russia’s government services portal.

According to the Moscow City Court’s website, the case was registered on November 17 and has not yet been considered.

Goryachev told Meduza that he doesn’t know exactly what prompted authorities to open the case, and that he doesn’t especially care. “It’s probably because I’m not a monster,” he said.
