The House of Representatives of the Netherlands — the lower house of the Dutch parliament — has declared Russia a state sponsor of terrorism, citing the war in Ukraine.
According to the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad, the overwhelming majority of representatives voted in favor of the decision. The resolution states that the Russian army is “structurally and deliberately” shelling civilian targets in Ukraine, according to the TV channel WNL.
Dutch Deputy Prime Minister Wopke Hoekstra noted that the measure is symbolic, as the country has no legislation stipulating specific consequences for state terrorism sponsors.
