Zelensky says Russia has fired more than 4,700 missiles at Ukraine since full-scale war began
In the 270 days since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian army has fired more than 4,700 missiles at Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky said during a video address to members of the International Organization of Francophonie on Sunday.
Hundreds of our cities have been burned. Thousands of people have died. Hundreds of thousands have been forcibly deported to Russia. Millions have left Ukraine for other countries, fleeing the war. We must stop this. We must stop Russian aggression.
The Ukrainian president also reminded his audience of the damage missile strikes can do to the lives of people who aren’t even in their direct path:
Hundreds of different missiles against our cities. Against residential buildings. Against businesses. Against power stations. Do you know what a missile strike is? It’s more than 20 million people without power. That’s the scale of the damage to our energy system, the emergency shutdown.
