Zelensky reports evidence of hundreds of war crimes found in liberated Kherson region
Evidence of more than 400 war crimes has been documented since Russian troops retreated from Ukraine’s Kherson region last week, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The president said law enforcement officers have uncovered numerous bodies of both civilians and soldiers.
“In the Kherson region, the Russian army left behind the same atrocities as in all of the other regions of our country where they’ve managed to go. We will find every murderer and hold them accountable,” Zelensky told Ukrainians, speaking on the 263rd day of the war.
He vowed that law and order will soon be restored in 226 towns and villages in the region. “We’ll restore mobile service, Internet, and television. We’ll do everything necessary to restore basic electricity and water supply infrastructure. We’ll restore transportation and mail services. We’ll restore ambulance services and healthcare. Of course, the authorities, the police, and some private companies have already resumed work,” he said.
Zelensky also warned Kherson region residents that there are still live mines on the liberated territories, and that at least one sapper has died and four have been injured while conducting demining operations.
