A Russian kamikaze drone attack in the center of Kyiv Monday morning damaged multiple residential buildings and set one non-residential building on fire, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. He later reported that 18 people had been rescued from the ruins.
Update: At least one person in Kyiv was killed by the drone attack Monday morning, Mayor Klitschko has reported.
Ukrainian authorities and media also reported:
- a Russian missile strike on critical infrastructure in Ukraine’s Sumy region
- missile strikes and heavy artillery shelling in the Dnipropetrovsk region throughout the night
- kamikaze drone attacks on industrial infrastructure in the Mykaoliv region
- explosions in the Odesa region
On October 10, the Russian Ministry of Defense began carrying out massive missile strikes on Ukrainian cities. The ministry announced it was attacking military, energy, and telecommunications targets, but it also shelled civilian targets. The Kremlin made it clear that the strikes were retribution for the explosion on the Crimean Bridge, for which Moscow blames Ukrainian intelligence services.
