Putin signs decrees ‘On the recognition of independence’ of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine

Russian president Vladimir Putin has signed decrees “recognizing the state sovereignty and independence” of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine.

Both documents were published on the portal of legal information on the night of September 30. The decrees have entered into force.

In the Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine, according to the results of the “referendum” held September 23-27, “for the declaration of independence and accession to Russia,” 93% of the participants voted in favor, in the Kherson region - 87%. In the “DNR” and “LNR,” according to the authorities of the self-proclaimed republics, 99% and 98%, respectively, voted for “accession.

In the afternoon of September 30, the Kremlin will host a ceremony to sign agreements on the “joining Russia” of the occupied regions, as well as the self-proclaimed “DNR” and “LNR.”
