Dmitry Peskov, press secretary for the Russian President, said that the Kremlin does not currently see a possibility of ending the war in Ukraine "in a political or diplomatic way."

According to Interfax, Peskov said that "At the moment, such prospects are not being looked at."

At the SCO summit in mid-September, Russian president Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Russia was ready to do everything possible to end the war with Ukraine as soon as possible, but that Kyiv refused to negotiate.

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who also met with Putin at the SCO summit, said the Russian president was eager to end the war as soon as possible. The Turkish authorities have previously said repeatedly that they are ready to organize meetings between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia. Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to Zelensky, rejected the possibility of negotiating a diplomatic compromise to end the conflict.
