Russian Justice Ministry surpasses 100 ‘foreign-agent media’ designations
The Russian Justice Ministry’s registry of “foreign-agent media” now includes more than 100 individuals and organizations.
On Friday, December 3, the Russian Justice Ministry announced that it had added four more journalists to its media blacklist: Andrey Grigoryev, Alina Grigoryeva, Regina Khisamova, and Regina Gimalova.
The journalists in question are all linked to Idel.Realii, a regional news outlet of RFE/RL’s Tatar-Bashkir Service. A friend of Andrey Grigoryev and Alina Grigoryeva told Meduza that they currently work for the publication. According to her VKontakte profile, Regina Khisamova works there as well. Regina Gimalova is a former Idel.Realii employee.
Also on Friday, the Justice Ministry handed “foreign-agent NGO” status to Citizen. Army. Law. — a human rights group that works to defend military personnel, conscripts, and those enlisted in alternative civil service.
