Belarus temporarily suspends routine medical care due to COVID-19

The Belarusian Health Ministry announced on Monday, October 18, that hospitals and clinics are suspending routine medical care temporarily. The ministry justified the decision by citing the need to improve “the provision of medical care for patients with the COVID-19 infections.”

Suspended medical services include clinical examinations, screenings, rehabilitation assistance, physiotherapy, routine dental care, and treatment in day-time care units. 

According to official data, Belarus recorded 1,956 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours and 15 fatalities. Officially, the country has recorded a total of 573,943 coronavirus cases and 4,417 deaths.

Earlier, on September 22, health officials in Belarus announced the suspension of preventive screenings due to COVID-19.
