Russia’s official coronavirus death toll surpasses 5,000

On the morning of June 2, Russian officials announced that the country recorded 8,863 new coronavirus infections in the past day (172 fewer new cases than the day before) bringing the nation’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 423,741 patients.

Another 182 people reportedly died from the disease, raising Russia’s total number of fatalities officially caused by COVID-19 to 5,037. As many as 186,985 people in Russia are known to have recovered fully, including 11,108 in the past day.

Russia says it’s conducted more than 11.1 million coronavirus tests, so far, including 228,500 in the past day.
