Six-year-old murdered during preschool naptime in northern Russia

A man has killed a six-year-old boy with a knife in Naryan-Mar, Russia, the country’s Investigative Committee reported. The murder took place during quiet hour at the child’s daycare center, according to 29.ru.

The suspect in the killing is a 36-year-old local resident who was arrested in a state of intoxication. The Telegram-based news outlet Baza reported that the man said he had been told to commit murder by “voices in his head” during a preliminary interrogation.

An investigation has been opened against the security company charged with protecting the daycare, wrote the wire service TASS. One source told the agency that the man carrying the knife was able to walk into the daycare uninhibited.
