The producer Timur Bekmambetov has created a zombie apocalypse series for Snapchat, the popular American social platform in which photo or video messages are deleted from the receiver’s device after they are viewed. TASS reported that the series, Dead of Night, is shot for a vertical screen from the perspective of a young woman recording the apocalyptic events around her as she attempts to survive.
Dead of Night is based on a book of the same title and consists of 10 episodes that are each four to five minutes long. The first episode premiered on September 16, and negotiations are underway to translate the series to other platforms. Bekmambetov is the first Russian producer to have a video series commissioned by an American company. His production firm partnered with the content company HOOKED during the course of the project.
