Air pollution keeps making dozens of children sick in a suburb outside Moscow

At least 68 children sought medical attention on Thursday in Volokolamsk, where fumes emitted by a local landfill have caused a public health crisis and provoked angry protests.
According to the Moscow region’s deputy health minister, none of the children needed to be hospitalized, and blood tests revealed no traces of exposure to harmful gases.
A day earlier, several dozen local school children fell ill due to air pollution, and many were hospitalized. At the hospital, parents staged an unplanned protest, physically and verbally accosting the region’s governor and the head of their district (who was later fired), when they came to visit the sick children.
