Trump snubs post-election Putin, and Moscow says that's just fine
The White House says it is “not surprised by the outcome” of Russia’s presidential election on Sunday. Spokesman Hogan Gidley says there is currently no congratulatory call scheduled between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
The Kremlin doesn’t mind, though. On Tuesday, spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Moscow doesn’t consider Trump’s snub to be “unfriendly.” “Some people don’t have time to call, and others don’t call for other reasons. There’s no need to make anything of it,” Peskov said.
In 2012, five days after Russia’s presidential election, Barack Obama called and congratulated Putin on his victory.
