An educator prevails over local prosecutors in Kaliningrad

Lyudmila Osipova, the director of a prestigious high school in Kaliningrad, gets to keep her job, despite local prosecutors’ efforts to boot her out, following her school’s celebration of “subcultures” last October, when students came dressed as punks, goths, soccer hooligans, and more, carrying fake bottles of vodka and a severed pig’s head, among other things.
Local officials didn’t like the weird event and accused her of promoting drug culture and even suicide. The district attorney’s office charged her with abusing the authority of her job and demanded that she step down. Students and their parents stood up for her, however, and the city now says she can stay put, issuing just a small reprimand.
