Officials respond to a bloody attack by two disturbed students on a school in Perm

Source: Meduza

On January 15, two teenagers armed with knives attacked several teachers and fellow students at a school in Perm, injuring 15 people. In an apparent suicide attempt, the perpetrators also stabbed themselves before police managed to detain them.

Anna Kuznetsova, Russia’s children’s rights commissioner, says one of the attackers showed psychological warning signs as early as 2012, complaining that the boy didn’t receive “sufficient attention.” Last year, his parents even appealed to the local authorities for extra assistance with his upbringing. The family didn’t get much help, however: the government responded by fining them for the appeal.
