Putin announces deterioration of Russian-American relations under new U.S. administration

“We can say that the level of trust is at the working level, especially the military level, has not become better, but rather has degraded,” Putin said in an interview with Mir TV.

During the U.S. presidential campaign, Vladimir Putin called Donald Trump the absolute leader of the presidential race and a very bright and talented person. Trump spoke of Putin as a tough and respected leader in the world and promised to improve relations with him.

Trump’s victory in the presidential election was welcomed with applause by members of Russia’s Duma.

On the morning of April 7, the United States struck a blow at the Syrian government airbase of Shayrat in Homs province, firing 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles from two U.S. Navy warships in the Mediterranean Sea. The Shayrat airbase, said the United States, is the home of the airplanes that participated in the chemical attack launched in the province of Idlib on April 4. The U.S. and other Western countries accuse Russian of being aware and partially response for the chemical attack. Russia rejects these allegations.
