A Moscow municipal court has sentenced Zelimkhan Mazaev to six years in prison for robbery and plunder. Previously, Mazaev was wanted internationally on charges of the murder of Sulim Yamadayev, the former commander of the battalion Vostok.

The court found Mazaev and his two accomplices guilty of an armed attack on two Muscovites on January 4, 2015. All three perpetrators were arrested the next day. Mazaev’s accomplices were sentenced to five years in prison.

In 2009, the United Arab Emirates announced that Mazaev was wanted by Interpol for the murder of Sulim Yamadayev in an underground parking lot in Dubai.

Along with Mazaev, the UAE announced that it was seeking six other Russian nationals, among them United Russia State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov. The search for Mazaev and Delimkhanov was thereafter canceled.

Ramzan Kadyrov’s former groom head Mahdi Lorni and interpreter Maksood-Jan Ismatov were sentenced to 25 years in prison in Dubai for the murder of Yamadayev. Their sentences were then reduced to three years at the request of Sulim Yamadayev brother’s Isa that the terms be set in accordance with Shariah law.
