Ukraine's security service captures a 'Russian agent'

Ukraine's Security Service reported the detention of a Ukrainian citizen working for Russian intelligence on Sunday. The "agent" was captured in the city of Rivne.

According to a security service report, the agent tried to recruit Ukrainian army officers.

"The [Russian intelligence service] agent offered a Ukrainian officer and his family Russian citizenship and money [in exchange for] secret and top secret documents on Ukraine's military training, arms, mobilization, deployment, and cooperation with foreign partners," the statement read.

According to the security service, after receiving an offer to work for Russian intelligence, the Ukrainian officer turned to Ukrainian security services. On Saturday, the "Russian agent" was detained while receiving a usb drive with false information that he thought would actually be secret military documents.

The detainee has not been named. According to the Ukrainian agency, he resides on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Ukraine's Defense Ministry has yet to comment on this information.
