Cossacks and men in camouflage stormed Moscow's Sakharov Center, the site of an exhibition of war photographs from Donbass in Ukraine, stated a post on the center's Facebook page on Thursday.

In an interview with news agency TASS center director Sergey Lukashevsky said that the people who broke into the building, "tore down advertisements that has been put up earlier, destroyed pictures, [and] brought in an unidentified liquid in a jar labeled 'Blood of the Children of Donbass'."

Earlier on Thursday, a man spray painted pictures from the war in Ukraine's Donbass being displayed at Moscow's Sakharov Center. The exhibition contained the photographs of Alexander Vasyukovich and Sergei Loiko - winners of the Pryamoy Vid competition.

The attacker, who accused the photographers of being fascists, managed to escape, though the police tried to detain him.

He later identified himself as church artist Anton Belikov and put up a video of himself spray painting the photographs on social network VKontakte. He maintained that he would voluntary turn himself in for police questioning if necessary.
