Russia's Central Election Commission announces preliminary election results

Russia's Central Election Commission of Russia has published the preliminary results of Sunday's election to the State Duma. Thus far the results of only seven percent of the total ballots have been counted. Preliminary results show that only four political parties have won seats in the Duma.

United Russia has won 44.15 percent of the votes, the Liberal Democratic Party - 18.38 percent, the Communist Party - 17.25 percent, and A Fair Russia - 6.25 percent. The remaining ten parties did not manage to win seats in Russia's lower house of parliament.
