The Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained a group of Central Asian nationals allegedly planning terrorist attacks for the May Day celebrations in Moscow and the Moscow region, reports RIA Novosti.

The terrorist attacks were planned “according to instructions from the heads of international terrorist organizations in Syria and Turkey,” say representatives from the FSB. Large quantities of weapons, explosives and “other tools of terrorism” were seized during the arrests.

The FSB says the Central Asian nationals have already given confessions.

In early April, the FSB said it had arrested five islamist extremists, one of whom was preparing to commit a terrorist attack in the Volgograd region. Intelligence agencies say they had connections to ISIS.
