Chechen ruler Ramzan Kadyrov attended his nephew's wedding yesterday and it was a hell of a party
The ruler of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, attended a hell of a wedding on Sunday, May 1, and he has the pictures to prove it. The nuptials belonged to Kadyrov's nephew, the son of his oldest brother.
In a post on Instagram, where Kadyrov is famous for sharing photos and videos depicting him doing everything from firing high-powered weapons to posing with flowers, the Chechen leader noted that “the heads of North Caucasian regions, chiefs of federal agencies, and guests from throughout Russia and other countries” attended the ceremony.
It wasn't all bureaucracy and romance, however: there was also a horse race. According to Kadyrov, more than 200 stallions from across the North Caucasus took part. In addition to the horse races, there were also other competitions held in various “national sports.” The winners received cars.
Kadyrov says roughly 2,000 people attended the wedding. The celebration's motorcade was not small, and locals even came out of their homes to watch from the street.
“The wedding was organized in accordance with Chechen folk traditions. Everyone who wanted to could take part—everyone was a welcome guest. And, as everyone knows, Chechens organize horse races on their wedding day. Five rounds were held on the outskirts of Tsentaroy [in Chechnya],” Kadyrov wrote on Instagram.
