Meduza correspondent assaulted by member of crowd disrupting Memorial society young scholar awards

Source: Meduza

An activist from a crowd of protesters attempting to disrupt a student awards ceremony hosted by the Memorial society physically assaulted Meduza news correspondent Daniel Turovsky earlier today.

The assault took place as the ceremony was ending and event participants were on their way out.

The activist was shouting that “fascist filth” had gathered together for the awards ceremony. Correspondent Turovsky told the activist to be quiet. The activist responded this by hitting Turovsky. The activist then refused to communicate with our correspondent.

Daniel Turovsky had come to the event to report on the award ceremony for the “Man in History: Russia XX Century” young scholar competition organized by Russian historical and civil rights society Memorial.
