Roughly 30 Turkish citizens have been barred entry into Russia over the past several days. It has not been confirmed whether the visas have been revoked or some other procedure is in effect, said a representative from the press department of the Turkish Embassy in Russia.

A Turkish diplomatic publication reports that Turkish citizens are facing more thorough inspections at the Russian boarder.

A representative from a Russian company operating in Turkey told the news agency RBC that their Turkish partners have refused to meet in Moscow, because of concerns over border-crossing issues.

There has been no official notification from Russia on any changes concerning entry into Russia, said the representative from the Turkish Embassy press department.

Turkish citizens can enter the Russian Federation as tourists for a period of up to 30 days without a visa. For stays of more than 30 days, or for work or study, Turkish citizens must apply for a Russian visa.

Federal Migration Service Head Konstantin Romodanovsky said on November 24 that there are 86,800 Turkish citizens in Russia.

On Thursday, November 26, the Federal Service for Veterinarian and Vegetation Sanitary Supervision began a full inspection of all agricultural products and foodstuffs from Turkey.

Customs clearance agents from the Federal Customs Service said that since November 25, goods inspections have been tightened and they have started holding items at the border. The Federal Customs Service has refused to comment further on the matter.
